As
much as white is one of the symbols of winter and the winter holidays, associated
with the image of falling snowflakes and blankets of soft snow, wearing bright
colors only feels natural to me in warmer weather. Airy, soft and semi-transparent
fabrics seem the perfect fit for the beach or a hot summer’s day. While a large,
beige, cable-knit sweater or
a button-down white shirt are must-haves
in any wardrobe, in winter they are usually worn with jeans, a darker
pants or skirts. Even while observing the well-groomed images I am sharing with
you today, you are probably still wondering how you can transform these
inspiring images into your own daily combinations. I know I am!
First,
I find the bright color look more suitable for sunny days, however low the temperature
is outside. Light colors just don’t go well with rain, puddles or the after-effects
of snow and mud. But I will let you be the judge of how chic and interesting the
look of a bright yet warm outfit can be. Not everything we like in the fashion pictures
matches our own tastes or lifestyle, but that is the beauty of inspiration
versus mimicry: the images open our minds to new ideas, leaving us free to
choose those which best resonate with who we are and how we live.
Keep one eye open to what the world has to offer while always keeping the other on what makes you look and feel your best.
